Emergency Communications

When the power is off, phones go out and the internet is down, when police, fire, and hospital services are overwhelmed, amateur radio operators are there to take up the slack as emergency communications volunteers. They have, in fact, been there in virtually all disasters in recent memory .. Hurricanes, fires, ice storms, earthquakes, floods and so on. Here are several links where you can put your ticket to use!

The Auxcomm workshop is designed for those auxiliary emergency communicators and groups who volunteer to provide backup emergency radio communications support to public safety and emergency response professionals and their agencies such as amateur radio/Radio Emergency Associated Communications Teams (REACT) communicators but may also include other volunteer emergency communicators.

Prerequisites: IS-100, IS-200, IS700, IS-800 and a general class FCC license or above.  A copy of the FCC license will be requested at the start of the class.
